Welcome to Tourism, Progress and Peace
A
Global Conference on
Peace and Tourism.
March 24-26, 2011
The Gambia
Welcome
to Tourism, Progress and Peace, the
Conference.
Tourism Progress and
Peace, is also the title of the
book published in June of 2010 where Professors,
governmental officials and travel experts
from around the world examined the
relationship between tourism and peace and
advanced strategies related to specific
issues and contexts.
The response to the book made
it important to create a venue
where educators, practitioners,
policymakers and business leaders could come
together to exchange ideas, present works,
listen, ask questions and collaborate on
projects to contribute to peace through
tourism.
The Gambia, a country in West Africa where
'active' peace is practiced, and tourism has
flourished, will be the backdrop to the
March conference. The Gambia is a good
example of a stable country in Sub-Saharan
Africa, a predominantly Islamic country of
about 1.8 million people that has seen
economic and social progresses, a hospitable
country which people are genuinely friendly
and where service meets the standards of
excellence.
When
an economically disadvantaged country like
The Gambia which is working very hard to
overcome so many big challenges is making
progress, our contribution is to engage
them, acknowledge their achievements and
support them. With your participation, the
tourism, progress and peace conference is
hoping to bring further visibility and
promotion to the country. Stability and
Peace is good for business.
Please take time and learn
more about our offerings by moving around
this Web site. Let's move forward as a
global community of educators and private
and public leaders whose goal is to meet in
The Gambia, March 24 - 26, 2011 to discuss
the so many issues related to Tourism
Progress and
Peace.
